Mavourneen, My Darling, our Love Story is both magical and intentional, my words adequately describing our remarkable ‘Fifty Year Adventure’. I respectfully and humbly share our Love Story honoring inspiring family and friends, we cherish and love.
Over fifty years ago, I was off-duty from military service when I stood at the doorway adjusting my eyes to the room’s dim light. Across the room, I noticed you talking and laughing with college friends. The room was packed with students, military, and local people enjoying time together on a Fall Friday evening. I found myself slowly approaching your group of friends enthralled by your charismatic personality and appearance. I observed how easily you engaged others in friendly conversation and laughter. You did not notice me standing only a few feet away – I was captivated by your appearance, voice, and how you interacted with people. I could not take my eyes from your adorable face, with beckoning green eyes, highlighting beautiful lips and friendly smile – your accentuating, enchanting Irish features.
As it was then and is now – your endearing, charming personality, and presence never fails to welcome and uplift others. I stood silent, admiring you. I was fearless and bold then, as I am now. When I am with you, I am amazed how easy you can take my breath away, cause my heart to race, and weaken my knees... you are “My Beautiful One, Forever My Love”. Each morning my eyes behold a beautiful Lady – My Magnificent Queen! Yes, I am ever grateful God gave me the courage, strength, and wisdom to approach you and ask for a moment of your time! One moment has become a lifetime of priceless minutes, hours, days, and years of Love – yielding everlasting and blessed memories. We await more...
How wonderful it is – fifty (50) years of incredible Friendship and Love. From meager and challenging times to blessed abundance and purpose – we are beholders of God’s Grace and Love centering our friendship, relationship, and marriage. We are blessed with James and Siobhan loving, successful, and gifted children, helping and teaching others. Our daughter-in-law Monica, successful in all endeavors, is generous and a servant of others. Each of our six grandchildren Collin, Devin, Eibhlin, Ashlan, Lawrence, and James are cherished blessings with extra-ordinary personalities and talent, exemplifying their parents. Lawrence Jr. remain special. Our beloved parents Loretta, Edward, Barbara and Junius, now with God, are remembered for their respect, support, wisdom, laughter, unique personalities, and limitless Love – their lifetime of sharing provide memories and stories for our beloved family.
Along with others, I celebrate your brilliant intellect, wisdom, and inspiring kindness. Your mentoring, support, and wisdom guided me during my honorable Air Force commitment; helped me graduate from SUNY college, and achieve a successful 36 year professional career. You graduated SUNY college Cum Laude, with high honor – a young wife and mother to our son James. It was meaningful, then and now, to experience and recall the times of meager income, limited resources, along with doubt, fear, and disappointment – each experience and memory fortify our compassion and commitment to serve individuals and families in need, especially now in the pandemic crisis.
With your natural gift and talent of helping family, friends, and others less fortunate – you started your professional career in the education system managing nutritious food service programs for students. After decades of notable, accomplished service as a School Lunch Administrator and Consultant, you retired. In retirement, you answered God’s call to accept religious ordination on May 1, 2011 becoming The Rev. Deacon Mavourneen Hubbard. You are a compassionate servant – a dedicated Episcopal Deacon, School Food Consultant, and Community Food Ministry Leader feeding individuals and families in need of nutritious food, etc. Countless family members, friends, and community individuals are benefactors of your loving kindness, wisdom, and support. I am blessed to be your husband... proudly learning to match your Compassion and Service!
You were 18 years old, raised in Buffalo, NY. I was 20 years old from Mattituck, NY. We were raised with differing life experiences, traditions, and religion. Our Respect, Friendship, and Love transcended societal norms – creating an unbreakable bond for us to become ‘Life Partners’! From our first introduction, dance, embrace, countless conversations, amazing experiences, exhilarating hugs, and more – we, like others, are grateful and thankful to God. Our life is full and complete – attributed to our loving family and friends, who are not deterred or burden by unworthy distraction, possessions, or excesses.
We are privileged to see and accept every ‘Life Experience’ as ‘Daily Opportunities’ to invite, welcome, and share with family members, friends, and others – making this 50th Anniversary Year exceptional and filled with Love and Blessings!
